Dr. Boyd joined the UPMC team in 2003. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College in Massachusetts, she pursued further pre-med studies at Columbia University in New York City, and attended Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. She went on to complete her residency training in family practice in Beverly, Massachusetts.

Following her residency, after her fifth year in family practice, she decided to pursue an additional interest of hers – sports medicine in southern California. She is now board certified in Family Medicine and has her certificate of added qualifications (CAQ) in Sports Medicine.

Dr. Boyd is the Director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at UPMC St. Margaret where she practices family medicine as well as teaches medical students and residents about sports medicine and family practice.
